    Also pop in four tig.-fingers.

What would the cost of this order be shipped to PO Box 165 Fitzroy Vic 3065 Melbourne Australia.

  2. Hi Jody,
I really enjoy all your videos and I’ve purchased all your DVD’s and use them for reference. I was wondering if you have any TIG exercises to get someone started before they melt metal? I had one fellow recommend taking a pencil and using it to push a washer over a piece of paper back and forth across the page trying not to make any marks on the paper to simulate the tight gap between electrode and stock. He also recommended practicing feeding a rod through my fingers with the push-pull method that all TIG welder’s use. I notice that that fine finger coordination isn’t as easy as it looks. The end of the rod can wiggle all over the place and be really frustrating when it contaminates the electrode. I know you are many years away from these basic skils as they are second nature to you. Did you just start melting and grinding the tungstens a ton when you started or did you have other exercises like the ones I have listed? Can you take a little time to demonstrate exactly how you accurately feed the filler rod into the weld puddle focusing on your filler hand motions? We always see your expert feeding of the filler into the puddle on the videos which is amazing to me knowing how hard that can be to do correctly.

Jody, love this video. a suggestion i had , would really like to see a day in the life @ your shop ,and what you do to get stuff out the door. the prep, grinding fitup and all the decision s you have to make during the day.that would be real world stuff . thanks for the videos.

  4. Jody,

First, I’d like to thanks you for getting me up and running on TIG and MIG welding. If not for you and Steve Blile(sp?), I’d still be laying turds on steel. My wife refers to your videos as porn; porn for me, that is.

Don’t ask me ’cause I can’t tell you, but I’ve fallen in lust with welding thin steel. These days, 16 gauge seems like plate, 22 gauge seems thin and 28 gauge is just too much work. I’ve even done some 16 gauge with stick, although I can’t recommend that.

And yes, I skip weld and use aluminum heat sinks, when I can. But I’m sure you’ve got loads of tricks for me to learn. So that’s my suggestion for future welding videos.

Also, in that I do all my own fit-up and jigs. I’d love for you to go into jigs for getting things tacked together.

    Thanks,

    pliskin
