Jody, I’m about as beginner as they come when it comes to welding,I so appreciate the time you take in putting these videos together. As an electrician all my welding is done on “accident”. So I’m trying to learn how to put things together “on purpose”.
In what I’v seen & read they talk about sharpening the electrode in what I would call a “Pyramid” shape rather than “cone”, it was hard for me to tell which way you sharpened your electrode.(looked like a cone to me) So does it really matter?
    Thanks Jody

  4. Jody,
Would you do a show and tell on the device you used to hold the torch in the 2% lanthanated video.

From the brief glimpse in the video, I think I have the makings of one from my quality junk pile. It is/was a coroner’s microscope positioner I bought at state surplus. It firmly extends / retracts on 3 axises. up, down, in, out, over, back and circular. All except circle are well machined rack and pinion. Made in Germany it was designed to firmly position a microscope over a ….. $5.00 including scope.

  5. Does anyone know where I can purchase an assortment of 2% Lanthanated maybe ranging from .040, 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8″ of top quality electrodes? I am a home welder and don’t need a lifetime supply of electrodes. Maybe 2 each would work or even 1 eaach size.
    Thanks

    • Hi Pat
You can go to usaweld.com and they have all the tungsten electrodes listed and prices I live in Australia and I get mine from them and it only takes ten days to get here. Happy hunting.

      • Thansk Dave. Just what I was looking for. I presume they are high quality like Diamond Ground or other premium brand

Thank you for what you do with the videos
I’ve been a welder for years. I now use the Tig Finger all the time. Great product. No more shriveled fingered gloves. You know Pushing the pain to finish that last inch. Great Job and God Bless.

  8. he jody i aint much of a welder but i love watching you do the little vids you do there an inspiration and i think i could tig weld now i’m only a self taught welder with no experience really but the stuff i weld is still stuck together and i made a few trailers a few years back on i’m pretty proud of if i can fin the pictures i’ll send them to you to show you my shit sticks together pretty well take care thnxs for the vids i really do appreciate them

  9. Not doing a lot of Tig, but had the chance to use E3 on a project a few months back. Wasn’t impressed. It worked ok on mild steel, but got a little frustrated when running at lower amps. Switched to lanthenated and had much better results. Now my preferred electrode.
I’m a Mac junky as well, and am sympathetic to your problem.

  10. Is every thing allright Bill.

  11. Jody,
Sorry to hear you’ve got the poorlies.
I’ve watched all your video’s at least three times since your were talking about 2% Lanthanated in 2009.
It’s OK with me if you take a little time off and rest up.
    Thanks for what you do.
    Jack
