In this weeks video, I am using a miller plasma cutter to make a metal backdrop for my new welding area.

for 2012 and going forward, I want to bring you the very best welding videos on the web.

With that in mind, I set up a totally new welding area with lots of peg board to hand new tools, lots of plug receptacles for welders, a place for my stronghand welding table, etc.

With all that peg board, I thought it would be cool to cut out a sign to be used as a logo background for future videos.

So which miller plasma cutter did I use?

The spectrum 625 extreme.

The 625 extreme is rated to cut 5/8″ thick steel. And it does with ease.

So 16 ga hot rolled sheet metal is a breeze.

The first thing that hit me when I unboxed this miller plasma cutter is the small size.

This thing is Tiny!

The miller spectrum 625 extreme is not much bigger than a 3rd graders lunch box….and it is very light too.

At only 21 lbs, the 625 extreme can be toted around easily…I set mine on top of my tool box while I filmed this video.

I laid out the sign using blue tape and that was probably the best way. It sure saved time.

Even though the tape started to peel, it stayed on just long enough for me to get all the letters cut out.

After finishing the sign, I beveled some 3/8″ plate using this tiny little miller plasma cutter.

3/8″ thick plate cut on a 30 deg angle is more like 5/8″…and the miller spectrum 625 extreme handled it with no issues.

  2. Dear Sir,
I was totally impressed by this new piece of equipment, the Miller Spectrum625.
I have been able to witness the super extra force coming from your gun and i am of opinion that it can go beyond 5/8 and the fire emitted was astonishing and it was real butter slicing your thick 3/8 blank.

I take this opportunity to thank you once more for the very good work and i have learned so many things and tackled easily some tricky works with fine art now.

Hope to find again much helpful ideas for 2012.

    Regards

    Richard (Rep of Mauritius)
