HTP Tig Welder Settings

Tig Welder Settings

This weekly video is about how AC frequency settings on a tig inverter can affect the weld.

Here is the bottom line:

If you need to get all heat you can into the part, a lower frequency like 50hz works.

For build up beads and stacked beads on castings where you are replacing metal and you need the bead to lay down flat and wet out nicely, 60hz is a good choice.

When you need to pinpoint the heat a bit (like when welding on an edge on 11 ga aluminum), 100 hz pinpoints the arc better than 60hz.

And when you do the same weld on thinner metal like .063″ (1.6mm) increasing frequency to 120 focuses the arc even more.

… And when you need to drive the puddle down into the root of a tee joint in .063″ (1.6mm), 150hz will help.

It’s tough to get the puddle to flow into the root of a thin tee joint. Higher frequencies can help a lot.

This HTP tig welder has AC frequency settings, AC balance , as well as the ability to individually adjust amperage on EP and EN while welding aluminum.

That’s crazy.

  1. I have enjoyed all your videos over the past month or so. I am currently taking classes at a local tech college and your videos have been a great helper. I told the instructors about them and how informative you have been especially the most recent one. I entered the skills usa competition here in the great state of Missouri as a post secondary student and took 1st in the regional, and took 1st at the state level as well. I can say that without your TIG finger that would not have been possible. I love that thing!! I am going to nationals and I can’t wait until the end if June so I can take 1st there as well. Thank you for all your tips and tricks. I can’t wait to watch what comes next.

  2. Where is this unit manufactured. How does it stack up against the Millers and Lincolns?
    Thanks.

  3. I too enjoy all your videos Jody. You have an excellent way of presentation and easy to follow instructions. I live down under mate in Australia and the only trouble is the fact that what you guy’s have in America we don’t have here.At least that is to the best of my limited knowledge.
I noticed that when i went to a store you mentioned i had a look at postage and when it asked for my zip code it had never heard of it.
I think it means for American customers only.
Which is a shame at times because some of the things you show i could benefit from myself.
Apart from that mate love the videos so keep them coming.
