jody -i welded in a sprint car shop a few yrs ago – we used the gas lenses & always used mild steel -uncoated filler rod ! we found the coated stuff gave some fizzles and ugly discoloratin ?? on the sprint car -using the mild steel filler rod we found -if the car was crashed -the weld area -tended to stretch -do to it not being as hard in the weld -if there was any ripping out of the weld or tubing -it was always in the haz -area a little distance from the weld -BUT it seems like the uncoated rod is almost impossible to buy now ?? anyway nice video ! i welded for “challenger ” sprint cars in des moines iowa -which i believe now is maxim ? also welded bb/ alcohol funny cars {moats & massey} -never had a weld failure !! & some cars was very bad wrecked some times !
